FAQ: How is the trial managed?

The Scottish Beaver Trial is a partnership project between Scottish Wildlife Trust and the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland, with Forestry Commission Scotland as a host partner. The project is managed through a project steering group and various other working groups are responsible for different aspects of the trial, from field work through to communications. See the SBT Structure here. Scottish Natural Heritage chairs the independent Research and Monitoring Coordination Group who advise and authorize all scientific monitoring projects associated with the trial.

A Project Manager coordinates the implementation of the trial programme.  Two Field Officers are responsible for the majority of work on the ground and RZSS's Beaver Project Leader oversees all operations involving beaver welfare and management. Click here to Meet the Team.

There is also a local Knapdale Beaver Trial Local Stakeholder Forum which is chaired by Argyll and Bute Council and ensures views of local stakeholders can be fed into the decision-making process for the trial.
