FAQ: How were the animals transported to the site?

All of the beaveTransport crates copyright SBTrs in the trial have been flown from Norway to Britain in specially designed transport crates. Most of the animals were originally taken to a quarantine facility in Devon where they stayed for a statutory period of six months. More recently imported animals have been quarantined at Edinburgh Zoo. RZSS transports animals from country to country on a regular basis and all transports are carried out with minimal stress to the anbeaver transportation on site copyright SBTimal.

 

Beavers are carefully driven to the trial area then each release crate is slowly carried by four people to the release point near the loch edge. Each crate contains one animal with water, food and a deep layer of straw, so each beaver is comfortable and doesn't slip around.
