FAQ: Where are the beavers coming from?

The beavers have been gathered by expert trappers from Telemark University College in Norway, a region with a large and healthy population of wild European beaver.  The Scandinavian beaver is considered to be the closest type to that once found in the UK and the Telemark terrain has many similarities with the west coast of Scotland. All beavers were only released into the Knapdale Forest after completing the statutory quarantine period.
